Tariq Shah

Tariq Shah OBE is a Doncaster born businessman and philanthropist. The Director of Vigo Group, a family of businesses headquartered in Doncaster, is a seasoned business, third sector and public leader.

He plays a key role in the highly successful third-generation family business which has operations throughout Yorkshire and London. His career has featured the leadership of significant development and regeneration projects, combined with community development, which is at the heart of Tariq’s commercial and personal values.

He joined Vigo Group in 2006 on graduating from the University of Birmingham (BSc Economics and Politics). He has a keen sense of place and dedicates time to improving the areas in which the business operates, this has included chairing the Town Deal Board in his hometown of Doncaster and being a board member on the Doncaster City status bid board that successfully pitched for the town to become a city in 2022.

Tariq balances commercial expertise with a social benefit focused approach to each sector. He gives his time and knowledge to support a number of charities, which have included the Prince’s Trust, the Sleep Charity, and was a founding Board Member of HM The King’s Mosaic and AHS Foundation.

In 2021, he completed an Executive MBA at the University of Cambridge and in 2022 he was honoured in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee birthday honours for his continued work and dedication to charity.

He is a passionate and public advocate for South Yorkshire and for the importance of place in solving societal challenges. Through his business and philanthropic endeavours, he strives to make a real difference to the area and to those who live and work in it.
